(1) Bright Annealed (BA) — hydrogen atmosphere at 1050-1120°C, surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.5µm, no scale, ideal for pharmaceutical/semiconductor.

(2) Pickled — immersion in HNO3+HF bath per ASTM A380-17 §7.4, removes 5-10µm surface layer, standard finish.

(3) Polished — mechanical #1-#8 grit per ASTM A480 §5.2, Ra 0.1-0.4µm for sanitary.

(4) Passivated — nitric acid treatment per ASTM A967-17 §5, removes free iron. EN 10216-5 §8.2 specifies pickled or BA as default. Surface roughness per ISO 4287: Ra ≤ 0.8µm for BA.

3. How does the cold drawing process achieve precision dimensions and improve mechanical properties?

Cold drawing per ASTM A312 §4: hot finished seamless pipe (rough pierced hollow via Mannesmann process) is cold drawn through a tungsten carbide die with 10-25% area reduction. 5. What corrosion resistance criteria apply to 304L and 316L in chemical environments?
